Today, Grinding Gear Games introduces its latest update to Path of Exile 2, which is also out now in early access. Grinding Gear Games are somewhat unique in that they continue to update the original game in the series while the sequel is available. Unfortunately for fans of this action RPG, servers appear to be overloaded, and players trying to find themselves in queues of thousands of people.

Prepare for long queue times with PoE’s Secrets of Atlas update

At the time of writing, PoE has shot up Steam’s concurrent player charts to reach number four with over 170 thousand players in-game, according to SteamDB. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean they can play the game right now. On the Community Discussions tab on Steam, some players have shared posts titled “LET ME IN” and “What is your place in the queue?” On the Path of Exile subreddit, players have shared images of their spot in the queue. One player shared a screenshot that showed they were behind over 98 thousand people in the queue, adding to the title, “Thank you Grinding Gear…”

Many players also appear to be experiencing disconnection issues upon entering the game. That same Reddit post explains that they finally reached character creation and were disconnected and thrown back into the queue. Many of the comments reply with similar sentiments.

Another fairly common issue appears to be players reaching zero in the queue, but still not entering the game. One on Reddit shared a screenshot, and several people in the comments reported experiencing the same issue. One post on the Steam Community Discussions page is experiencing the same issue, with some comments suggesting that this is an issue with Steam or that the servers aren’t yet back up. For now, it seems like there are no workarounds to these issues, other than being patient and/or trying again.

Much of the community across social media, while complaining about the wait times, doesn’t seem very surprised. This is a regular occurrence for a game that has been around for twelve years and continues to receive updates consistently. While Grinding Gear Games has yet to comment on the situation at the time of writing, they are likely working on a solution that will be ready soon.
